“Storm, wind, the wild March sky, sunsets and dawns; the birds and bees, butterflies and flowers of her garden, with a few trusted human friends, were sufficient companionship. The coming of the first robin was a jubilee beyond crowning of monarch or birthday of pope; the first red leaf hurrying through "the altered air," an epoch. Immortality was close about her; and while never morbid or #melancholy, she lived in its presence.” #QuotsySep21

After a hundred years
Nobody knows the place, —
Agony, that enacted there,
Motionless as peace.

Weeds triumphant ranged,
Strangers strolled and spelled
At the lone orthography
Of the elder dead.

Winds of summer fields
Recollect the way, —
Instinct picking up the key
Dropped by memory.

Emily Dickinson has some individual poems here that I absolutely love. I didn't love all of it though, and I found myself feeling pretty indifferent to the larger body of work. I did really love a good handful of them, but overall her stuff wasn't for me. Still glad I gave this a shot though.

zezeki I just went through first series, and I feel the same way. 6y
elizabethlk @zezeki I thought the second and third series were better than the first. 6y
zezeki @elizabethlk Then I might give it a try. 6y

I have now read all of Emily Dickinson's works!! I throughly enjoyed reading her collection of poems, they were a delight! The only section that dragged was the first section in her third series. Not sure why it dragged, I just had a harder time reading it. If you haven't read Ms. Dickinson's works yet, I highly recommend you do at least once! ❤️

StephBengtson I love her work so much. 7y

Still can't believe I've gone my whole life without reading an Emily Dickinson poem before now! I really enjoyed her nature imagery and rhymes. I may not be a huge poetry fan, but her work is really beautiful. (Thanks @SerialReader for this selection!). 💐🌷🌼

My first finished read for November! Serial Reader was a great way to read this collection of poems since I tend to read poetry in snippets anyway. But I may have to purchase a physical copy because I found myself wanting to flip back and forth between the "pages" on numerous occasions. Emily Dickinson covered just about every lifetime experience from love to war to nature to religion and more. There's something here for everyone. 4/5⭐️#poetry

MemoirsForMe I'm also a fan of Emily's poetry. Thx for letting us know she's on Serial Reader. Cool! 8y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme It's amazing what's on Serial Reader! Although, I think this is the only ED volume so far. 8y
