"The Atlas of Literature" explores the fascinating connection between writers and place. This ambitious and exciting book focuses on writers and works that are intimately bound up with a place and a time, capturing a town, a city, a region, in its literary heyday.

I admit I haven't read every single word of this volume -- but good portions of it. What I've read and pored over of the maps and photos has been enjoyable, especially the modern-day references. I wish I could put it with my books about books but it's too large so will put it on one of my large book shelves. A #becauseofLitsy purchase 💖

LeahBergen I frequently go back to this book. 👏🏻 8y
Libby1 I've just stacked this. Thanks for the recommendation, @ValerieAndBooks and @LeahBergen ❤📚❤. 8y
ValerieAndBooks @LeahBergen I know I will go back to this book, too! 😊 @Libby1 I think you'll enjoy it. Not only does it fuel the travel bug, but also the TBR📚📚! 8y

Arrived today! Emerson and Hawthorne's New England (pictured), plus many more maps and discussions of other literary regions such as Greenwich Village or Kafka's Prague. Super excited to pore over this! This is a #blameitonLitsy purchase, thanks to @LeahBergen and @vivastory for their mentions of this book.

I-read-and-eat Thank you for mentioning it again 😊 I definately need this 😉 8y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh what a great book!! You can plan vacations and make your own literary tours!! I have to remember this one!! I second the thank you! 8y
ValerieAndBooks @I-read-and-eat I think it's one that'd appeal to most of us here 😊 @vivastory thanks again for mentioning it!! @kspenmoll it is out of print (why?!) but there are copies reasonably priced online. @JanuarieTimewalker13 yes exactly! I love traveling and this is a good way to know more about places -- even the historical ones where landmarks may no longer exist or aren't marked if they are still around. 8y
GlitteryOtters Y'all are seriously bad for my book budget! This looks glorious! 8y
LeahBergen Isn't it awesome?! I'm so glad you found a copy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 8y
ValerieAndBooks @GlitteryOtters the great thing about #Litsy is finding out about awesome books! At least this one should be relatively easy on the pocketbook -- it's out of print. For now it's still reasonably priced by third party sellers on line. until we all cause a stampede and then they increase the prices... so hurry 😊! @LeahBergen thanks again for the mention and you may have guessed from the pic that I'm still plotting that trip to Concord 😉. 8y

This book is great for browsing and is heavily illustrated with literary maps. The Lake District, Kafka's Prague, Chaucer's England, Bohemian Paris, Joyce's Dublin ... you get the idea. It's a ton o' fun. #Mapsinbooks #SomethingforSept #BooksAboutBooks
