Pickpick

After an incident nearly derails her career, Eve Wren finds herself working at the Crown Prosecution Service in London. Eve is keeping her head down at her new job, when she is suddenly taken off the case she was working on & moved to the biggest case at present. Cult leader Patrick Nye & his followers, known as 'The Seven', are standing trial after unexpectedly pleading not guilty to detonating a bomb in a London theatre killing 43 people.

OutsmartYourShelf Eve's job is to check that evidence deemed not relevant to the case has been correctly processed, but as she starts to work her way through the 10 boxes of evidence files, Eve finds evidence that has not been followed up properly or misclassified. After reporting this & trusting that it will be sorted, Eve realises she is being followed. Is someone trying to influence the trial or cause a mistrial?

OutsmartYourShelf I quite enjoyed this one. An interesting case, several twists & turns & a nice misdirection made this a solid legal thriller to start off my New Year's reading. The main character, Eve, is a little bland but nice enough. I'd be happy to read more if there are more books in the future. 3.5🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publisher, Thomas & Mercer, for the opportunity to read an ARC.
