pickSUCH A COOL BOOK THAT EXPLAINS “in a fantasy manner” WHY RAIN HAPPENS! Published in 2008- I have never heard of this story before! I think if you bring it into the classroom it will blow kids minds when they make the connection of the story with the real world. A secret between Lila and her grandfather was shared in order to bring an end to the drought within the story!

I would use this book in my classroom because I like the message it has about being thankful for what you have and also I like how it is a diverse book. This would be useful to explain the significance of diversity in a classroom.
pickLila and the Secret of Rain written by David Conway and Jude Daly. This book references its own tale/story. It's also a diverse book about the Kenyan village so it could about their folktales. The folktale is about a little girl who lives in a Kenyan village where it hasn't rained in a long time therefore the crops are dying which means no food and no water for the villagers. So it could've been a true story. The plot is simple and direct too.
I enjoyed this book and it is something I would tell in my classroom. The girl saved the day which is something that usually doesn‘t happen often which is important for children to understand that boys and girls can save the day.
pickLila and the Secret of Rain by David Conway and Jude Daly, 2007. The tale Lila‘s grandfather told her was new to me, telling the sky the saddest thing you know to make it rain. I think there is a very real reality that when it does not rain in places like Kenyan they do struggle and I think the book does a good job at showing that while telling the tale.

This book was so interesting and gave me some insight on Kenyan culture. It also gives a good message to never give up.
pickLila and the Secret of Rain by David Conway is a piece of traditional literature. It was written in 2007. The story is set in a Kenyan village and have us a lot of detail about what they do in their day to day lives. This gives us good background knowledge to help make sense of the story. This book also uses repetition a lot which is common in this type of literature. I thought it was pretty powerful and gave us a lot of insight on Kenyan culture.
