pickThis was a fun short story following Mirren on her search for a rare book for her ailing great-aunt. I liked her adventures in all the cozy book towns. I thought the ending wrapped up too quickly but otherwise enjoyed it.

This one is a soft pick for me. While it is cute, I was just lukewarm about it. The story needed a bit more punch and the characters more depth. I get this sometimes with novellas, not enough time to give me the development I crave. 3 ⭐

Mirren‘s great aunt (Violet) is dying and asked for a rare book she had when she was a child. Mirren hunts high and low in England and Scotland for this rare edition with little success and running into unsavory characters. However, she finds something better.

If you have read her book The Christmas Bookshop and Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop you encounter some characters from that story and you see what happened to them after the midnight one.
