pickI had never heard of Winnie Ruth Judd or of the “Trunk Murders” before reading this book. The story was riveting! It‘s hard to believe what this woman did and nearly got away with. The story starts in 1931, when the protagonist arrives at the LA airport with trunks that contained dismembered bodies. It just got stranger from there. Im glad that this book is pick for a book club that I belong to, otherwise I may not have read it.
pick1-26-25: My 8th finished book of 2025! Based on the true story of Winnie Ruth Judd and the trunk murders of 1931, this true crime novel was pretty intense. The murders and their aftermath were heinous. And it was hard to be such a slight girl could manage what she did, but she ran for awhile, finally was incarcerated and the rest of her life was spent incarcerated in one form or another. A tale of madness that led to murder. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣8️⃣

Just started this new historical fiction novel by Laurie Notaro, who's mostly known for her satiric essays (a la Dave Barry, but for women!). It's based on a true story of one the most notorious crimes in Phoenix history, The Trunk Murders. Laurie and I were in the same AP English class in high school. #smallworld
