A victim of her mothers Munchausen by proxy and child abuse survivor, Gypsy-Rose Blanchards unique and controversial case made headlines across the world. Now, shes finally free to start living her life on her termsand to tell her own story as only she can. Forced to use a wheelchair in public and endure a lifetime of faux illness, fraud, and exploitation, Gypsy was subjected not only to her mothers medical, physical, and emotional abuse, but deprived of childhood milestones. Prevented from attending school or socializing, Gypsys formative years were defined by pain and isolation. After serving 8 years in prison for the role she played in her mother Dee Dees murder, Gypsy is embracing her fresh startand reminding all of us that its never too late. In this revelatory, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful memoir, Gypsy shares the painful realities she grew up with and the details of her life that only she knows, including: The abusive cycle that began with Dee Dees abuse by her father Gypsys fear that continued unnecessary surgery would leave her truly disabled How she coped with guilt and accepted responsibility for her mothers death Memories of her final days in prison What she learned upon reviewing her own medical records for the first time How it felt to finally see her family again as her authentic self Featuring Blanchard family photos and new facts about Gypsys life that she previously kept private, My Time to Stand offers an unprecedented look at the real Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, proudly embarking on her ongoing journey to recovery and self-discovery.

I did not know much about Gypsy Rose until I watched The Act on Hulu several years ago. What terror she must‘ve lived through as her mother slowly took her body and stunted her mind through Munchausen by proxy. She wrote about how that isolation made her think there was no way out besides leaning on her violent internet boyfriend. It‘s sad that she felt more free in prison than out. I‘m glad she has supportive family around her now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ “If I had been allowed to walk, it would‘ve been on eggshells.” Such an impactful line. But, I‘m conflicted. No doubt the mom was in the wrong. Like, severely. Lady was the gaslight queen, and had to be mentally unstable. Yet, I don‘t trust Gypsy fully. This was a decent read, but content-wise, there are some obvious inconsistencies. The amount of manipulation from all involved is wild.

BethM I can‘t look away from this story. I really want to read this! 3w
Kerrbearlib I also feel conflicted & have noticed inconsistencies. Have you seen Mommy Dead & Dearest? One of the people interviewed said (this is paraphrasing) it‘s impossible that Gypsy didn‘t pick up manipulative tendencies from her mom. I think they‘re right. I‘ll still read the book but will keep in mind that it may not all be true. 2w
britt_brooke @Kerrbearlib I haven‘t seen that, but yes I wonder that, too. It would make sense. 2w
britt_brooke @BethM The whole situation is so odd! 2w
