pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I‘m off to a great start to my Nonfiction November! I love Elizabeth Gilbert, and if you‘re someone who has only ever given a whirl to (or heard of) her “Eat, Pray, Love,” you are missing out. (In 2014, I shoved her historical fiction novel “The Signature of All Things” into the hands of at least four people I love, and I regret nothing.)A well-done biography of a difficult man, this one would make for quality book club discussion, I bet.
I bought this book at a beautiful shop, Two Buttons, located in Frenchtown, New Jersey, owned by Elizabeth Gilbert and her then husband. It featured antique home items,art, and furniture that they had imported from exotic locales. There were also signed copies of her books! #curiouscovers #man #day13

Monday‘s op shop purchases. I love bath bombs lately, probably just as much as I love second hand Thermomix cookbooks. If you don‘t own a Thermomix you should and then you will want two like I do.

I finished 2019 by just barely hitting my goal number of books read (finished my last book around 9:30pm on New Year‘s Eve!) In 2020, I‘m scaling my goals back just a bit so I‘m putting less pressure on myself in the last few months of the year.

Just started reading this yesterday — it‘s Elizabeth Gilbert‘s portrait of Eustace Conway, a twentieth-century survivalist and conservationist.
At seventeen years old, Conway left home to live on his own in the woods, and has been championing the natural world ever since. Very absorbing so far!

Interesting, but the subject of the book is a bit extreme. I don't think he would ever be able to live in normal society......not that he wants to.

pickWhat an outstanding read...SO well-written, often funny, fascinating story in a compelling narrative. Couldn't put it down. I'll be thinking about Eustace Conway for a long time to come.
