Heart wrenching and emotional, with moments of beauty, joy, and love. It's a wonderful debut, engaging crafted, filled with genuinely human characters at their best and worst.

Be prepared, there is no real resolution in the ending. Personally, I loved that, but I know that doesn't work for everyone! I found that lack of finality echoed the balance of heartbreak with just the slightest light of hope that Ibeh walks so beautifully.

squirrelbrain The ending didn‘t work for me, but I really dislike non-endings. 😬 7mo
TheKidUpstairs @squirrelbrain I totally get that. I think I'm in the minority for how much I like non-endings! 🤣 I'm excited to see what Ibeh writes next - he's SO young! 7mo
squirrelbrain Hi Megan, I saw on one of the #camplitsy posts that you wanted to read this one but it didn‘t have a release date over there. It‘s a bargain on Amazon right now so I‘ve ordered you a copy and will send it on in the next few days. I hope you like it - I loved the ARC and I think you will too but it‘s very ‘of my era‘ and set in Yorkshire as well. (edited) 7mo
TheKidUpstairs @squirrelbrain thank you so much!!! 7mo

Obiefuna is a young boy, who loves to dance, growing up in Nigeria. When his father catches an embrace between Obiefuna and the newly arrived house boy, he sends his son away to a strict seminary.

There, Obiefuna begins a journey of self-discovery whilst battling terrible violence from the older boys.

Once again, this is a book without an ending. 😠 I was just getting to know and love Obiefuna and then….nothing!

BarbaraBB A bit frustrating, such endings! 9mo
