This is the 5th book in a wonderful series that I would classify as a complicated cozy with an interesting twist...the author has written himself in as one of the characters. This one had Agatha Christie vibes and a locked room scenario. It also had a cast of other interesting characters who were all viable suspects. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more from this author. Thank you to HarperCollins and Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. 4/5

After finishing this the only thing I can think to say is: There better be another Horowitz & Hawthorne book in the works! I love these books so much 😁 The narration style keeps me engaged, the characters are top-notch and interesting and the cases themselves are so unique and odd that you can‘t get bored! If you‘ve enjoyed the other works in this series, you won‘t be disappointed with this one 👍

Aims42 Themes: Agatha Christie style murder mystery, Fantastic characters (and motives!), First person narration 5d
Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes This is a great series. Another Sherlock/Holmes spin. ❤️📚 2d

Low end of the pick scale. To me, the structure didn‘t work that well. Horowitz interrupting periodically to report on the progress of his book and the questions he has didn‘t really add much. The story wasn‘t that interesting and the villain was obvious. I started Huckleberry Finn because I want to read James; I was a child when I last read HF, so I probably read the kid‘s edition. #audiowalk

Starting to be humid down here. Blech. I‘ve mentioned how I feel about the narrative pov in this book, but, honestly, I‘m not even sure I‘m interested in the mystery either. #audiowalk

I finally got out to walk today, but it was night and with my daughter; we were walking her dog. Since it was night, the pictures aren‘t that great. I‘m still not positive that I like the point of view of this book. #audiowalk

I enjoyed this classic murder mystery with a great puzzle and fun characters (= rich neighbours behaving badly). It kept me guessing as I suspected each character in turn and I liked the repartee between the detectives. Lovely Richmond setting and gated community intrigue.

I love the Hawthorne and Horowitz books, so this is my new #audiowalk book. It‘s a little different because it‘s told in mostly third person because it‘s about a case Hawthorne solved before he teamed up with Horowitz. I‘m not sure how I feel about this because part of the appeal of these books is their relationship.

I love this series and this installment is solid. Has a bit of an Agatha Christie vibe - a murder in a small wealthy English neighborhood with a fun cast of characters. Not as much clever animosity between Hawthorne and Anthony, but you do learn a little more about the very private Hawthorne. The narrator Rory Kinnear is an absolute master and he brings so much to the books.

Installment #5 in the Horowitz & Hawthorne series is another fun one! I listen to these because I adore narrator Rory Kinnear‘s performance. This one had a bit of a send up to some classic murder novels, which was fun. At the end, the author read the acknowledgments and said he had SEVEN MORE BOOKS planned for this series! Hopefully Mr Kinnear will be able to continue performing the audiobooks, too.

Ruthiella Seven more books! 👏👏👏 Yahoo! 3w
Ericalambbrown @Ruthiella Right?!?! I was so happy when he said that! 3w

I fell into an #audiobook black hole. I started reading the Hawthorne&Horowitz series this week and finished books 3 and 4 today, started book 5.

I simply adore the graphic quality, colours, and font of these US covers for the Daniel Hawthorne series. So effective in their simplicity.

I just watched Paul Doiron talk with Anthony Horowitz (my apologies if Mr. Horowitz ever sees this screen shot I took 😂) and it was AMAZING! He is just a delightful man that I would love to meet in person someday 😁 During his talk he said he was planning on 12 Hawthorne & Horowitz books (‼️) and he‘s working on the next Susan Ryeland book now (🙌). I‘m not so patiently waiting for my library hold for the tagged book to come in, I can‘t wait!!

Librarybelle That‘s awesome! I bet it was a fascinating discussion. 4w

The fifth instalment in the excellent Hawthorne and Horowitz series. I did a little jig when my NetGalley request was approved. This one did not disappoint. Riverside Close is an idyllic gated community with just six homes. Hawthorne is called to investigate when an owner is found dead via crossbow. As Hawthorne digs he finds everyone in Riverside Close had a reason for wanting the victim dead. Thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for the ARC.

LiteraryinLawrence Oooh, I‘m excited there‘s a new Horowitz on its way!! He‘s an auto read author for me. 4mo
Crazeedi Now I have to see what book I finished in this series, and get to them!! 4mo
