This is a creepy as hell book and I love it! A reunion of old friends who have fallen out of touch, but that is where any similarity to the reunion of old friends trope ends. The creepy estate, the dangerous weather, become characters in this twisty, strange thriller. Nothing and no one is as it seems and I did not see that ending coming. This is a really great read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I predicted the #greatplottwist but was interested to see how it was executed. In that regard, I was not disappointed. As others have said, there were many characters introduced all at once, which led to a somewhat clunky start, but once rolling the story was compelling and led to a slightly improbable but thrilling conclusion.

The past two nights I have fallen asleep while trying to post about my readathon experience 😂

I reached my goal of reading at least one book from my NetGalley backlog. I had initially planned to read one that had been on my list for much longer, but this is the one I landed on and I‘m happy to cross one more off of my NetGalley list.

Started slow for me because there are so many characters to keep up with. I had trouble settling into the story with my digital copy, so I grabbed this print book to see if that would help-it did! Slowly the twists started coming until the fast-paced ending. It was a fun read. A locked-room murder mystery story with a little suspense too. I think the long length and slow start kept it from feeling as suspenseful as it was probably intended👇🏻

I couldn‘t put this book down! It was twisty and intense. Loved it!

I have this December tradition where I turn out all the lights except my tree, open the blinds so I can watch the sky glow (the only thing I like about winter), and sit right next to the tree so I can see well enough to read.

This year, the tree‘s positioned so I can‘t see it AND the glowy sky from the chair beside it, so I‘ve pulled out my book light to keep the vibe going. The darker atmosphere is a perfect fit for this creepy book.

I enjoyed Nalini Singh‘s first two thrillers and I was really looking forward to this one, but oof. It opens with seriously clunky character intros; like, just a step up from, “As you know, Bob…” territory. I would‘ve bailed if it was my first Singh. Since it‘s not, I pushed on through and am enjoying it a lot more now everyone‘s established.

Please also note my peanut butter luchador. He brought me joy.

This week‘s library haul features Nalini Singh‘s latest thriller, a knitting book, and two tiny Christmas things: a ghost story and an historical mystery. I strongly suspect the next volume of FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST I need is sitting there in the back, too, but the part of their computer system that manages holds went down this morning. Guess I‘ll grab it next week.

This is sort of a classic locked room mystery. 7 friends and a fiance are trapped on a remote NZ estate during a freak snowstorm. It's entertaining. Even if it's slightly predictable.
