When people say, “I‘m #CoolAsACucumber they‘re letting you know they‘re calm, composed, & unbothered, even if a situation is stressful. An early mention of the idiom was in British poet John Gay‘s poem “New Song on New Similies” in 1732: “Cool as a cucumber could see the rest of womankind.” The phrase quickly gained popularity throughout the 1730s-40s & has been in use ever since.
