Second Chance Summer: Cedar Ridge 1
Second Chance Summer: Cedar Ridge 1 | Jill Shalvis
13 posts | 26 read | 1 reading | 9 to read
Fans of Jill Mansell, Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts and Marie Force will fall head over heels for the new Cedar Ridge series from New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis, featuring her trademark gift for humour, warmth and romance. What do you do when you run into the man who broke your heart? Lily's been back in Cedar Ridge for less than ten minutes when she bumps into Aidan, the former love of her life. So much for sneaking back into town unnoticed. And thanks to frizzy hair and armfuls of junk food, she's turning his head for all the wrong reasons. No one knows why Lily is home after ten years, and she's determined to stay no longer than the summer. But Cedar Ridge and Aidan have other ideas. As they set about persuading Lily to give them a second chance, she finds herself falling under the spell of the Colorado mountains ... and the one man she could never forget. Want more warm, funny romance? Visit spellbinding Lucky Harbor or experience some Animal Magnetism in Sunshine, Idaho in Jill's other unforgettable series.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

Shalvis is always a good choice for a “all the feels“ romance.

Sometimes you just need to veg with a book you know is going to have a happy ending! While this romance wasn't anything spectacular or groundbreaking, I liked the characters and the setting. A little sexy for me but overall a fun read, and I have requested the other two books in the series from the library!! Also took me to Colorado for #ReadtheUSA2020 / #SeparatedbyaPondTour @Andrew65

Andrew65 I still need Colorado and have nothing targeted yet. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - So far, I haven't purposely read a book to check off a location - they've all just “happened“ to be in what I was planning to read anyway. But if I want to get to all 50 states by the end of the year, I may have to actually do some research!! 😂 4y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks Likewise. Happenstance. 4y
MidnightBookGirl I love her books! Her books are usually pretty sexy, but her Wildstone series is more serious in tone and less about sex and more about relationships- it's fantastic! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @MidnightBookGirl - Somehow this is the first of her books I've read, but I'm definitely planning to find some more!!! 4y

If you‘re looking for an easy and enjoyable summer read, this is it. I just started reading Jill Shalvis books this year and can‘t seem to put them down. Even though most of her books follow the same storyline, they are my favorite to pick up when I‘m in a reading slump or wanting all the happy feels from a book.

Lovesbooks87 I love Jill Shalvis books! 5y

I do enjoy romance novels, despite the predictable plots and cheesy writing. And I really did love the setting and how it was almost a character itself. However, I found the main characters kind of flat, the plot underwhelming and the conflict (between the leads) frustrating. I did enjoy the character‘s backstories but I won‘t be continuing with the Cedar Ridge series.

This was just okay for me. Very typical, very predictable and not all that exciting of a ride.

Not massively seasonally appropriate here in the UK at the moment, but it was what I fancied from the to-read shelf this morning to read on the train.
