We are in an epidemic. An epidemic of unhappiness. Friends, here is the good news: HappyHead has the answer. When Seb is offered a place on a radical retreat designed to solve the national crisis of teenage unhappiness, he is determined to change how people see him and make his parents proud. But as he finds himself drawn to the enigmatic Finn, Seb starts to question the true nature of the challenges they must undergo. The deeper into the programme the boys get, the more disturbing the assessments become, until its clear there may be no escape...

Perfect for fans of the Squid Games & Adam Silvera's More Happy Than Not universe comes the 'answer' to the unhappiness epidemic: Happyhead. A warped idealogy centred around the prevalent wellness culture, a clever simulation with dark & twisted undertones. A hypothetical universe of a wellness system becoming something unhealthy in the blind hope for life's most coveted nonpareil: ultimate happiness. Edge-of-your-seat enjoyable & oh-so thrilling.

Slightly confused about when this was supposed to be set (there were a LOT of millennial pop culture references) but was an enjoyable little romp. I would put it on the level of hunger games but still quite interesting and the fast pace meant I tore through it.

I couldn't resist sharing this all too relatable quote from HappyHead by Josh Silver, a highly anticipated YA LGBTQ+ thriller/dystopian novel that reels you in until you're scouring the Internet for a mere mention of the sequels release date!

In a true 'sleep less, read more' fashion (read: insomnia), I finished this book in a single night, but someone would probably have to pry it out of my cold, stiff hands regardless. This disturbing LGBTQ+ thriller/dystopian explores the murky wellness culture & its dark undertones, leaving tendrils of palpable suspicion throughout. Twisted. Thrilling. Captivating until the very end. Every moment with Seb & Finn was nail-biting. A real page turner.
