This was fine. I liked Anna. And the inhabitants of the boarding house- including the new, mysterious tenant, & the various villagers we meet. But it was kinda boring. Also, this reads like the 3rd in a series as there are frequent mentions of other cases Anna has solved & of her acrimonious relationship with the police detective assigned to the island but it's the first one. I checked several times! Again, fine. But I won't continue the series.

This was a low pick. It's the first book in the series but some details seem to have been left out. Anna is a widow running a boarding house on a small island I took to be somewhere off the East Coast. They are hosting a pirate reenactment and one of the players is murdered.
