Atwood is a stunning writer but her poetry is through the roof insane!!!! Such wonderful observations that manage to traverse the personal and public spheres so effortlessly. Favourite poem was ‘Gasoline‘ - amazing last stanza!!!!!

I‘ll be thinking about these for awhile (and quoting one for tomorrow‘s #poetrymatters prompt.) Whether in poetry or prose, Atwood knows how to use the English language.

Guys I spent some of my tax return this year on a weighted blanket for my anxiety and I‘m so in love with it. Paired with some amazing Canadian poetry and I am snuggly and clam and chill. Also the pattern has tiny dragons on it. 😍🐲

ReadingVampire That‘s really pretty! I Love dragons 🐉! 6y
CouronneDhiver Where did you get it? I‘d be interested in one! 6y
Jabberwocky @CouronneDhiver It‘s a company called Hippo hug out of Calgary. The blankets are fully customizable and made here so they are a little pricey, but so worth it! 6y

tracyrowanreads I keep thinking I need one. I love yours. 6y
unicoon This blanket is so pretty. I dont think I need a weighted one but I'm sold on the pattern. 6y
LiteraryinPA What a great idea. Glad it‘s working! 6y
Melissa_J Love the pattern on the blanket! 6y
saresmoore I‘d never heard of a weighted blanket, but seeing as I pile myself under a heavy heating pad and several quilts when I‘m anxious, I‘ll bet it works well! 6y
Jabberwocky Honestly I had the best sleep of my life last night 🤷🏻‍♀️😍 @LiteraryinLititz @saresmoore @tracyrowanreads 6y

A good collection of #poetry as well as an excellent opportunity to read Atwood's immaculate writing. These lines stood out to me for some reason. #rediscoveringatwood

Lcsmcat I liked this section too. 5y

I like poems about bears! #rediscoveringatwood (sorry this is not the deepest post!)

Lcsmcat Her repetition of «big paw big paw big paw big paw» really made me see a bear plodding off into the woods! 5y

The door swings open,
you look in:
why does this keep happening now?
Is there a secret?
The door swings closed.

UrsulaMonarch One of my favorite poems in the collection! 7y
Lindy @UrsulaMonarch Yay! It‘s tricky to get a good quote from this collection because many of the passages would be too long; they build upon previous words and thoughts. 7y

Lindy This is a nice collection. Your post had me searching our bookshelves to find it and I came across something I didn't realize we had: 8y
hwheaties @Lindy thank you! And that sounds interesting. I haven't quite caught Ferrante fever yet! 8y

The poet has come back to being a poet
after decades of being virtuous instead.

Can't you be both?
No. Not in public.
