I read the tagged book a few months ago and it is one of my top reads if the year so far. There is a chapter about American date species going extinct and they talk about how some farmers started selling Date Milkshakes to help with sales. Today, on my road trip a few hours away from the farms, I found a pit stop that sells them, so I had to try them. They are very good, more of a nutty flavor to them than a fruity flavor that I was expecting. 👍

Very fascinating! Really puts things in perspective and gives you “food for thought”. Did you know there is an Endangered food list? It has plants, animals, and methods of preparing food that are endangered of being extinct. I learned so much and there are some alarming patterns. The author travels the country to research and taste 9 of the 350+ American foods on the list. If you like history, food, travel read this book! TW: animal slaughter

TEArificbooks #naturalitsy @AllDebooks @Chrissyreadit @TheBookHippie @jenniferw88 I read the free sample of Utlra-processed people but my eyes glazed over so decided not to read it But as I was checking my indie store to see if they had that one, the home page said this author was doing a signing so I got this one. I highly recommend it to anyone in the group that didn‘t like ultra-processed people. I wish this book had pictures though. 10mo

Chrissyreadit i‘m a little nervous about animal slaughter but it sounds like a good book 10mo
TEArificbooks @Chrissyreadit the animal slaughter is only a couple sentences, I think she is respectfully about it, but doesn‘t shy away from the fact that it has to happen to eat the animals. It is only in the sheep and the salmon chapters. And both cases the animals are slaughtered in what is considered the most humane way possible for their species. Just skip those paragraphs. I have read grosser body horror but can see it being a trigger for vegans 10mo
Chrissyreadit thank you! 10mo
