A Black teen desperate to regain her Ivy League acceptance enters an elite competition only to discover the stakes arent just high, theyre deadly, in this searing thriller thats Ace of Spades meets Squid Game with a sprinkling of The Bachelor. You must work twice as hard to get half as much. Adina Walker has known this the entire time shes been on scholarship at the prestigious Edgewater Academya school for the rich (and mostly white) upper class of New England. Its why she works so hard to be perfect and above reproach, no matter what she must force beneath the surface. Even one slip can cost you everything. And it does. One fight, one moment of lost control, leaves Adina blacklisted from her top choice Ivy League college and any other. Her only chance to regain the future shes sacrificed everything for is the Finish, a high-stakes contest sponsored by Edgewaters founding family in which twelve young, ambitious women with exceptional promise are selected to compete in three mysterious events: the Ride, the Raid, and the Royale. The winner will be granted entry into the fold of the Remington family, whose wealth and power can open any door. But when she arrives at the Finish, Adina quickly gets the feeling that something isnt quite right with both the Remingtons and her competition, and soon it becomes clear that this larger-than-life prize can only come at an even greater cost. Because the Finishs stakes arent just make or breaktheyre life and death. Adina knows the deck is stacked against herit always has beenso maybe the only way to survive their vicious games is for her to change the rules.

What a ride! This book once you get to chapter 3, it doesn‘t stop till the end. Solid 9/10. I will say I did hope that in a few years Graham & Adina would get together and take down all the elites “traditions” they were. Good team and the little moments they shared melted my heart. I how when they make this into a tv series, they give them moments they deserve.

I needed something fast paced and different to fill in the gap between preorder releases. This novel definitely satisfied me. Also, I realized that I preordered the authors next book without realizing who the author was. #TheirViciousGames #JoelleWellington

I‘m up to page 210. I believe that this is the third act of the story. I have a bowel 59 more pages to read. I think that this is the best story that I‘ve read so far in 2024. #theirviciousgames #joellewellington

I am 82 pages into this. I have a new found love of YA thrillers and horror stories. This marks the second one that I read this year that takes place in high society with a black female lead. I think that I‘ve become a fan of Joelle Washington and just realized that I preordered her second novel. I think it‘s called The Blonde dies first. 🤔. Anyway I am hooked on this. It‘s that good! #theirviciousgames

Week ✌️ of New Reads November is HERE on my book podcast, featuring author Erin La Rosa‘s return to the show and a book written by former guest Joelle Wellington, THEIR VICIOUS GAMES. Erin and I spend most of the episode fangirling our way through the novel and the many ways in which it takes us back to the YA booms of the earlier aughts. Listen at the link in my bio!

Snobby New England, entitled, recent high school graduate girls and one outlier, participate in a competition for an elite position within a prestigious family.

This thriller takes the reader on a twisted adventure. The characters are well fleshed out and polarizing. It is an addictive read.

KT1432 Ohh I‘m about to read this for a book club! 1y

Can't get enough of The Inheritance Games or Hunger Games, this YA thriller. A BIPOC student competes for an ivy-league scholarship at a secretive estate with other female pupils but it becomes apparent their academic prowess is not desired but their ability to stay alive. A page turner from start to finish.
