A late start for school this morning means I finally made time to bake muffins from this #cookbook a friend gave me for Christmas.

Confession: I find it nearly impossible to follow a recipe exactly as written. I used frozen cranberries instead of dried and apples instead of pears. I substituted in a tiny bit of wheat bran (Hobbit muffins should be hearty) and threw in a dash of cloves and allspice.

Daisey @JazzFeathers I tried my first recipe, and they‘re delicious! 2y
Tamra Sounds scrumptious! 2y
Daisey @Tamra They were! 2y
Knitmaths It‘s always more fun changing the recipe! 2y
Daisey @Knitmaths So true! That is, until someone asks me to share and I realize just how much I adapted the original. 2y

I have to say, it is a lovely book, with some very interesting recipes ☺️

Lindy Are you planning to try any of the recipes? 2y
JazzFeathers @Lindy l certainly will. There's one for shortbread with molasses. Molasses is not common here in Italy. I found it the first time in my life in an organic shop last month and l want to try it. But I'm sure I'll make other recipes too. 2y
Lindy @JazzFeathers I remember trying to find molasses when I was living in France—and I wasn‘t successful. 2y

I can resist everything but temptation!

A friend of mine sent me some photos of this book.
I'll have to say l did resist a whole 5 minutes before l ordered it 😌

Daisey Just now seeing this post . . . a friend gave this to me for Christmas. I‘ve been perusing and considering some recipes to try. 2y
JazzFeathers @Daisey What recipes are you considering? We may do a contest 😜 2y
Daisey @JazzFeathers So far, I've only marked the spiced cranberry & pear muffins (although I may use apples) to make soon and the strawberry & lavender shortcakes for early this summer when strawberries are in season. 2y
JazzFeathers @Daisey l will check those. They sound yammy 😁 2y

Did anyone else enjoy the Barnes & Nobel 50% off all hardcovers sale? My husband and I were in Anchorage and luckily caught the sale after returning from visiting his family for Christmas. #barnesandnoble #cookbooks
