Another round up of awesome Pride graphic novels! Have you read any of these?
Another round up of awesome Pride graphic novels! Have you read any of these?
This was such a fun read! Brought me back to my days as a Theater geek while also providing a heavy dose of surreal adventure. I‘m excited to check out the next book in the series!
A free afternoon, a local bookstore and a park nearby, and my lump sum teacher paycheck burning a hole in my pocket... great combination.
I love the whole outcasts banding together thing, and the characters are great. The plot felt a little jumbled to me, and kind of all over the place. I think kids will love this one, and I would hesitate to recommend it to them.
A little bit of a late start to #deweysapril today - I have a good excuse, we went to see Captain Marvel last night! Also it‘s just 8am here so that‘s not too bad right. A small stack today - my plan is to read three comics and hopefully finish this translated book by a Korean author. My parents are visiting from Singapore and we will be out so I‘m hoping to put in more reading in the morning before swim class. How‘s your readathon going?
This is another recommendation from @Bianca - awkward teens unite in the group of students working backstage. Also an entire secret world with changing hallways and tiny creatures makes for exciting adventures. I also doing this in Hoopla, nice to have it provided by my library.
Cute and odd. Enjoyed it but don‘t know that I‘ll read more. 3/5

December 27 *Favorite series
📚Backstagers Vol 1 and Chi‘s Sweet Home we‘re both cute and funny. Backstagers ended on a little cliffhanger so I‘m going to be on the lookout at the library for the next volume for sure!
📚 The Winter Sea was recommended by a co-worker. I would describe it as “cozy historical romance”. It‘s a dual perspective set in Scotland.
This was so stinkin' cute. I can't wait to read everything else in this series.
This is /the most/ fun. A little bit like Lumberjanes, but with lads and musicals. Ends on an eerie cliffhanger and of course the library only has the first volume. Of course! (also, please excuse my hand, I don't know what it's doing 😂)

📚—Backstagers by James Tynion IV and Rian Sygh
👤—James Baldwin
📽—Bob‘s Burgers
🍽—Buffalo Chicken Wrap
This was so much fun! very much a brother series to the brilliant Lumberjanes. Do recommend
I have had a bit of a reading slump, so I‘m going to try and break that slump with some graphic novels! I have no idea what these are about, but I have always liked Boom! Box Studios‘ comics, so I‘m giving this a shot!
YAY MORE BACKSTAGERS !!!!!!!
(kind of gross tho that they still aren't committing to making the title ongoing...clearly there's a demand for it since they came out with a special in February and now a second one in October so what. Is. The problem. Boom. 😑)

Fun story for theater nerds like me. Great characters. Wasn‘t a huge fan of the art.
Hahahaha! So true!
Taking a mental health day because every day this week I‘ve been running on low spoons. Slept all morning, now trying to sit and read. I‘ve got to get some energy up for #bayareabookfest tomorrow!! 😬
Snuck out of my LGBTTIAQQ Health Conference for some introverting with this adorable graphic novel. #selfcare #queerbooks
Reading this delightful tale before giving it to my niece for her birthday. Thanks for the suggestion @ohyeahthatgirl !
Gunna try and finish this comic volume before heading to bed to read #blackecho. Bonus view of Moose being a super cute puppy in the background. She's now 6 months🐾. #comicbooks #graphicnovels #puppiesoflitsy
I love this book, but also, I'm backstage waiting for my keynote. Nervous but ready! #ncte #ncte17 #teachersoflitsy
Ummm wait??? I'm really confused why this series is only 8 issues long???????????? Why is it not longer than that, it is so cute!!! I want to read more about these kids! I don't want the series to be done!! 😭😫😖😞 I'm so upset now why does the happy queer stuff always end
Grabbed this on Hoopla at the recommendation of @thequeerspiderwoman Definitely cute and fun. I wish Hoopla had Vol 1 as a single download instead of individual issues, but I will definitely read more.
Just everyone read this please? It has diversity, it has softness, it has crazy stuff, it has beautiful stuff, it has EVERYTHING.
Today's #PrideRec prompt is "gay characters," and I read about dudes so infrequently that it stumped me for a good long minute. Then it hit me: @jamesthefourth's totally adorable all-ages comic THE BACKSTAGERS. At an all-boys school, the stage crew discover that the area backstage is a little - well, paranormal. This comic run - now completed - is an absolute goddamn delight and I can't wait for it to come out in trade paperback.
Looking for an adorable comic series to dive into? THE BACKSTAGERS, about a group of theatre techies and their magical backstage world, is an absolute delight to read.
Anyone else reading The Backstagers? I've been picking issues up from Hoopla as they become available and I'm a little obsessed. Think Lumberjanes at an all-boys school stagehands club. #comics #queerbooks
*I received a sample of the upcoming Backstagers Vol. 1 from NetGalley. The sample was the first issue.*
Jory is the new kid at an all boys school and becomes a backstager, the stage crew who are tasked with appeasing the spoiled actors of the drama club and putting a show together from behind the scenes. Behind the stage door are halls and doors that move and strange supernatural goings-ons. Perfect for Lumberjanes fans. 🎭👹👯♂️🎟
First two reads of 2017 were both comics (this and volume 1 of the woods). And this counts for #readharder2017 #allagescomic
The comic debuted today - about a new kid at an all-boys school who tries to join the drama club but instead discovered that crazy shit happens backstage with the stage crew (who are cool and weird).
This is a little bit of the drama kid version of Lumberjanes (has some of the same weirdness). It felt too short for an issue 1 + we've seen this weirdness before but I'm going to hang with it for a while.
