"A haunting, dreamlike tale of sacrifice, love, and obsession." -- Cassandra Clare, #1 New York Times bestselling author. Delaney Meyers-Petrov is tired of being seen as fragile just because she's Deaf. So when she's accepted into a prestigious program at Godbole University that trains students to slip between parallel worlds, she's excited for the chance to prove herself. But her semester gets off to a rocky start as she faces professors who won't accommodate her disability, and a pretentious upperclassman fascinated by Delaney's unusual talents. Colton Price died when he was nine years old. Quite impossibly, he woke several weeks later at the feet of a green-eyed little girl. Now, twelve years later, Delaney Meyers-Petrov has stumbled back into his orbit, but Colton's been ordered to keep far away from the new girl... and the voices she hears calling to her from the shadows. Delaney wants to keep her distance from Colton -- she seems to be the only person on campus who finds him more arrogant than charming -- yet after a Godbole student turns up dead, she and Colton are forced to form a tenuous alliance, plummeting down a rabbit-hole of deeply buried university secrets. But Delaney and Colton discover the cost of opening the doors between worlds when they find themselves up against something old and nameless, an enemy they need to destroy before it tears them -- and their forbidden partnership -- apart.

First of all, I found this signed owl crate edition at half price books for only 10 bux. I‘m a whore for book covers so I bought it before I even knew what it was about because, uhm, this is quite possibly one of the most beautiful covers I‘ve ever seen. Anyhoo, I was pleasantly surprised to actually adore the story contained within. I especially loved Laney. I love books with female MCs who discover how badass they are 💪🏼

“Something‘s coming. Something with teeth.”

This was a creepy, atmospheric read. I enjoyed the relationship between DeLaney and Colton, and there were interesting side characters, too. It‘s nice to see a main character with a disability as well. Highly recommend this one.

Dark and lovely with an agonizingly good slow burn romance, this was a deliciously haunting and atmospheric book. And nice to see disability representation in a protagonist.

This was a good read with a MC who is deaf. Set in an university with it seems young men are being found dead. But it's not that straightforward, as it includes another world, shadows and of course romance. I found it quite gripping.

BookwormM Love that cover and deaf protagonist sounds great 2y

Loving my Owlcrate version of The Whispering Dark! The foiling on the hardcover is gorgeous, not to mention the dust jacket redesign is my favorite design for this novel, but I also like that the book is always a good quality. It makes it easier to take with me places and not worry about it falling apart, but just special enough too📖🙌🏼

Latest OwlCrate book, and another shiny + enticing cover. It gave me The Ninth House vibes - Delaney has a gift for the supernatural, and she attends a college where she can put her gift to work. While there are aspects of the plot that I think could be explained better, the secrets to uncover in the book and its slow burn romance kept me turning the pages. I was also entrapped by how Andrew wrote about emotions, and feeling things in your bones.
