A few months ago, I overheard a coworker say to someone that she was exhausted because she stayed up late the previous night reading a book she couldn‘t put down. Naturally, I casually inserted myself into the conversation by asking what book she had been reading. She replied that it was by Freida McFadden. It was time for me to see what all the hype was about.

I really enjoyed this one! You‘ll like it if you‘ve read her before. I didn‘t see the twist at the end coming. It was kind of funny with the homages to the Bates Motel & all the Psycho references. It made for a great listen and I liked how the book was told in parts by different narrators. This would make for a fun movie/mini series.
I listened to the audiobook. The narrator was good. The storyline was interesting. I enjoyed meeting the characters and getting to know them. I was surprised at some of the twists and had me guessing what the outcome would be. I thought I knew pretty much how it would end but I was wrong.
Sooo….this scholar was reading as I was passing by and I immediately stopped to see what she was reading. Y‘all!! Of course I was happy that 1. She was reading 2. I‘m reading a book by this same author and 3. She and I immediately started sharing our thoughts about the author and her writing style. I love when I get to connect with scholars about books or anything surrounding books.
I don‘t think I have the words to express how much I disliked this book. I absolutely would have bailed but it was an audiobook and the narrator was decent. Boring characters, way too many separate plot lines. Felt like I was getting smacked with red herrings. Too maybe unreliable narrators and I thought it would never end. Definitely not for me, inwards and upwards. Cheers to the author and her many many fans but we are not meant to be.
Oh my God! What a fantastic book! It was so good I finished it in one day. This is definitely a book that keeps you on your toes. You think you know what‘s going on, what everyone is like and who the killer is. Nope! There are twists and turns that you won‘t see coming. I highly recommend this book!
“Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime. To avoid spending her life in prison, she makes a run for it. She leaves behind her home, her job, & her family. When an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The handsome and kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is happy to offer her a cheap room for the night. Unfortunately, the motel isn‘t the quiet, safe haven it seemed to be.”
I read Ward D recently and loved it so, of course, I ordered five more of McFadden's books, as one does. 💁♀️ Here's hoping I like them all just as much! 😅

This wasn‘t my favorite by Freida, but I still liked it. I loved all the ways it came back to Psycho but wasn‘t the same. I felt like she was really playing with the reader to throw you off of what the twist would be and make you think you knew the story. The ending was just okay for me, though and that definitely made me not love it as much as some of her others. Still a quick read and fun!
Another great page turner from Freida!!! Loved the cast of characters and how they came together for a happy ending after all the twists and turns.
Freida McFadden is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She grabs you on page 1 and keeps you interested throughout the story where she throws in that twist at the end. #13 of 2023

Quinn Alexander's husband Derek is dead on the kitchen floor. Quinn decides to run away. She gets in her car and heads north. There is a snow storm starting to happen but Quinn pulls off the road and decides to stay at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The motel has a dark and disturbing past.
7/10 This one was a quick read, held my attention, and surprised me in the end; however, I wouldn't say it was remarkable.
This is only the second book by Freida McFadden that I‘ve read and I definitely need to read all of her others! There was twist after twist near the end and I loved it! I definitely wish I would‘ve jumped on the bandwagon sooner but it‘s never too late! I look forward to her other books and the stories she can tell!
Totally fangirling right now! I asked Freida McFadden if I could ask her a couple of questions for bookclub and she answered all of them!
This is a cool article about her and her work as a md! I‘ll post our conversation later!
