I hated all the characters as was meant to be. The story was good but a little slow in parts. I feel like I would have liked more depth from the background characters.⭐️⭐️⭐️

A struggling young woman marries a rich athlete who holds secrets about his former wife‘s passing. She digs too deep but it‘s too late to let the mystery go unsolved. I really enjoyed this book! I didn‘t connect to the characters as much as I would‘ve liked to, and some serious scenes seemed to be taken lightly. But the twists were entertaining and I was itching to solve the mystery too. Overall, 3.5 🌟
STOP READING THE BOOK YOU ARE READING! You need to get a copy of this one & push it to the top of your pile! When I tell you I could not put it down! There were twists & turns until the last page, that I was not expecting. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was thrown a piece of information that made me forget everything I thought I knew! I could rave about this book for days & it still would not be enough! Highly Recommended!

Whoa! That ending! Very creepy, but once you get into it, you can‘t put the book down. Samira‘s life is falling apart when she meets Roland. He seems to be the answer to all her problems, but there is some mystery to the death of his previous wife. Samira marries him anyway and then discovers and becomes addicted to reading the previous wife‘s journals. Trigger: abuse, all kinds. Lots of suspense and surprises (though figured some out).
I‘m convinced now that Shanora is the Queen of Psychological Thrillers!!!! The Perfect Ruin pulled me in. The Wife Before took me through so much, down so many rabbit holes that I did not want to end. This audio was unbelievably amazing and addicting
Samira comes across journals belonging to Roland‘s first wife that raises questions about the nature of her death. Should Samira fight for her marriage, or her life?

I really wanted to love this book. The story overall was good. There were some good ideas there but the structure threw me for a loop. There were a few small mistakes between the wives (ie the 2nd wife‘s name during the 1st wife‘s journal) and the language structure bothered me. It wasn‘t a bad book but it wasn‘t my favorite. It reminded me a bit of Dorothy Koomson‘s The Woman He Loved Before but I definitely liked Koomson‘s more.
Jumping from one century to another. I intend to go back to my Summer with Zora Neale Hurston but I ordered this book a while ago and it finally came so I‘m going with this next. 🙂
I really enjoyed this book! I hadn‘t ever read anything by the author but I plan on reading her from now on. This book had me on the edge of my seat and just when I thought I knew what was going on I was wrong! It was a very good thriller!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and Goodreads in exchange for an honest review!
