Dystopian thrill ride set is a world where antibiotic resistant disease has been unleashed through a terrorist act. Written by an author who comes by his scientific knowledge through graduate study in biochemistry. The premise is terrifying, the plot tight, his characters are well drawn and facing untenable choices. It‘s taken over two years for me to be able to read in this genre; even now it strikes close to the bone. A good read nonetheless.

This fast-paced thriller takes place in a near-future dystopia where antibiotics no longer work and an act of bioterrorism has resulted in a health-based surveillance state. A cop becomes embroiled in the deadly hunt for a quarantined child and discovers secrets that others will kill for. The story had a thought-provoking ending--definitely worth reading the afterword to understand the level of research and care the author put into this scenario.

Thank you, Goodreads, for this ARC. I found this book to be so-so. It was very technical, and heavily based on science. It lost me about 3/4 of the way through. The idea behind the book excited me, but I felt let down after reading it. The best part of the book was the authors note, where he made some very good points about the future of humanity.
