"This is a delight." Publishers Weekly on The Hate Project A secret crush leads to a not-so-secret romance in this delightful romantic comedy from Kris Ripper There are three things you need to know about Preston "PK" Harrington the third: Hes a writer, toiling in obscurity as an editorial assistant at a New York City publishing house. He is not a clich. No, really. Hes been secretly in love with his best friend, Art, since they once drunkenly kissed in college. When Art moves in with PK following a bad breakup, PK hopes this will be the moment when Art finally sees him as more than a friend. But Art seems to laugh off the very idea of them in a relationship, so PK returns to his writing rootsin fiction, he can say all the things he cant say out loud. In his book, PK can be the perfect boyfriend. Before long, it seems like the whole world has a crush on the fictionalized version of him, including Art, who has no idea that the hot new book everyone's talking about is PKs story. But when his brilliant plan to win Art over backfires, PK might lose not just his fantasy book boyfriend, but his best friend. Carina Adores is home to romantic love stories where LGBTQ+ characters find their happily-ever-afters. Mehso-so

When PK's BFF Art turns up on his doorstep having broken up with his boyfriend, PK is unable to declare his true feelings but instead pours them into a romance novel, which looks like being a bestseller. 👇

rwmg PK as narrator was irritating enough in the early parts for me to nearly DNF the book. It was only when we got into the mechanics of book production and the build up to publication that I found it interesting enough to keep me going through a romance which was less than compelling because I had absolutely no investment in the characters.

So-So verging on Pan

I really enjoyed this book and I think it's a very fun read. The main character is an absolute dork and I think that's great.
Since I really enjoyed it, 10/10, good book.

Absolutely adorable and hilarious. Everything with his huge crush and his new accidental book gets out of hand for Preston quite quickly! It's tough when your impulse control is low, your thoughts fly through your head a million miles a minute (how'd you end up on Wikipedia again?), anxiety kicks your butt, and you can't tell your best friend you're in love. I look forward to hearing how #LGBTQBookClub likes this one. #LGBTQIA #AuthorsInBooks

Gosh I cannot seem to keep on top of anything over the summer - as soon as my routine is messed up, I'm gone! So due to that, this next pick will be for September!

Discussions will be around the 24th and I can't find any content warnings so go forth with care! As always, this discussion is open to anyone who wishes to join.

“It was in New Jersey” as a breaking point for why a location for a date was not romantic 😆

I couldn‘t remember why I had added this to my tbr but now the narration style has made it clear that I probably wanted more neurodivergent characters in my life because this guy is super adhd 😂

Witty and wordy, this cute 🌈 rom com is definitely worth your time. Non-binary and pansexual rep, they/them pronouns, navigating family issues, not-so-secret love. Cute and swoony but not at all spicy.

slategreyskies I want that nail polish! 🥰 2y

PK has been in love with best friend Art for basically as long as they‘ve known each other. Following a bad breakup, Art moves in with PK and to deal with his pining he writes a book about it. and it gets published. and he doesn‘t tell Art. and now Art loves his book and thinks book version of PK is the perfect book boyfriend. until he finds out how many secrets PK has been keeping. can‘t lie, didn‘t like the ending, but I think that‘s a me thing.

Just listening to the audio book - the narration is just lovely. Do I really need to be awake for work tomorrow? (Yes. I absolutely do. Argh. Why isn‘t “I couldn‘t stop listening” a valid excuse to skip work?)
