The lives of four disaster relief volunteers intersect after an earthquake in India. Not an easy read but I found it beautiful and haunting.

Starting a new book today from my Kindle library.
Viet Dinh is talking about how in some ways the short stories around four different narrators came together. He is an author who plans out the narrative and the structure before getting started. Very interesting discussion among the three authors.
Good night, Littens. I hope you are reading something wonderful. I know it's hard to concentrate with all the awfulness going on in the world. And if you can't read right now, that's okay, too. Take your time. You do what you need to do. We're all here for one another. 💕📚😘
After Disasters is told through the eyes of four people in the wake of a life-shattering earthquake in India. An intricate story of love and loss weaves together the emotional and intimate narratives of four heroes. Through time and place, hope and tragedy, love and lust, the men put their lives at risk in a country where danger lurks everywhere.

Quiet heartbreak. Except for that moment when I openly cried loud enough for the boyfriend to get worried.

"And he said to her, "I promise," as if keeping promises were the easiest thing in the world.
Ooof, this book is really good. A quiet beauty. A slow slide into heartbreak.
The story of four aid workers in the aftermath of an earthquake, the story of weakness and strength. Definitely excited to dive into this story of what makes a hero.
Enjoying the last months (weeks, days?) of sun before my first Minnesota winter and took a walk to the library. Not sure if I'll get around to tackling the Whitehead before it's due back but am psyched for After Disasters.
