The Far Land tells the story of the mutiny on The Bounty as well as an exploration of where the descendants of the mutineers ended up, with the author visiting modern day Pitcairn Island. I found the narrative structure interesting and I think I was more taken in by the modern storyline.
Dual story of the Bounty mutineers & the author's own present-day travel to Pitcairn Island - where Fletcher Christian & the others settled. Uneven - I actually liked the travel story better than the Bounty mutineers. Narrative history is hard to do right, & Presser is a travel author - so maybe not surprising. But any story with “Massacre Day“ as a plot point will hold your interest!
