You learn to ask yourself with every sentence and every phrase: Is this interesting? Is it fun or challenging or inventive? Am I giving the reader enough? Is she bored? Is she following where I want to lead her?

This is about writing a story that people are willing to pay to read.
Hmm. I know I am being harsh on the author but it felt like he wanted to replicate the success of War of Art by writing on the same subject (art of writing) and on a similar style but failed.

For my writer friends, I liked this book more than The War of Art. Some big truths in it. I listened twice. #iwrite good stuff.

Don't let the title put you off, Steven Pressfield and (editor) Shawn Coyne are the sympathetic, but plain spoken friends that creative types need. I love Pressfield's books on the craft of writing; The War of Art may be my favorite, and this newest volume feels like a continuation of the same conversation. I bought it "just to have," but once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. ❤️
