So-so novel-in-verse about Stevie, a young girl reckoning with anxiety about the many things she has yet to understand…

It was cute but the whole written in verse thing did not work for me

I wasn‘t a fan. But it doesn‘t help that Libby only had this on audio and I didn‘t love the narrator. This is a sweet MG coming out story, but I didn‘t feel like it had much depth. All the conflicts seemed overly engineered. It‘s written in verse, but I didn‘t really get anything of that on the audio, so I‘m not too impressed with the poetry. I liked the librarian character😁 LGBTGBookBingo #Winter/Snow #PopSugar2022 #ABookYouCanReadInOneSitting

Kenyazero I love books with librarians! I'll have to add this to my to-read list and see what I think! 3y

A heartfelt queer middle grade novel in verse. I wish it had done more with the fact that it's in verse but the story and emotions are so sweet and true. Stevie is an 11-year-old with anxiety, which she deals with by arming herself with knowledge. One thing Stevie is afraid of is the ocean. Another thing is the weird fizzy feeling her friend Chloe gives her. The book charts her journey to telling her single mom, with the help of a kind librarian.
