It‘s a rainy day here today and I‘ve read half of this book in one gulp. 😆

This was not what I expected, I thought it was going to be a typical, comfortable whodunnit, but what it really was, was hilariously, darkly witty. Tension and suspense were combined with astute and beautifully crafted domestic observations- it was such a good read! A real surprising wee find- it is a rerelease of a Faber classic; it was Waterstones Book of the Month in July, and that's what made me pick it up, and I'm so glad I did!!!
Book mail!
I‘m loving the cover on this newly republished 1959 novel of domestic suspense (and hope they continue with more of Fremlin‘s backlist 👍).
When a book postcard Succinctly portrays how you feel about the impending school holidays
The cleverly written story of 3 sisters. The eldest was married to ‘Uncle Paul‘ , who , after 15 years in prison is to be released. When the sisters find themselves together on a seaside holiday… the mystery and suspense begin to gain momentum in bizarre ways. One minute I was laughing ( slightly hysterically 😬) and then I was scared again. So well written , and what a tale !
I started this last night … strange and unnerving, I feel like I‘m walking on egg-shells ..it‘s the Celia Fremlin vibe 😳.
The sun is streaming in here this morning.. a little read and then off on the dog walk.
Happy Friday 📚
