An anthology of short stories written in tribute to the work of Shirley Jackson. This had a lot of really good stories included. I would definitely recommend this to horror readers and fans of Shirley Jackson.

Started this Shirley Jackson-inspired collection last #scarathlon and finished a few months ago. SO GOOD!!! My favorites for reading around a #campfire: “In the Deep Woods; The Light is Different There“ by Seanan McGuire and “Quiet Dead Things“ by Cassandra Khaw. 🤓

The short story ‘Money for the Dead‘ by Karen Heuler was my #doublespin for June.
These stories were something else. They all perfectly unsettled me. This one in particular started with the basic fear of aging and ghosts, and got creepier and more into regret and true feelings for people/events of the past. Ya know, fun topics 😂. But seriously, the writing was fantastically crafted to elicit emotion from the reader. Just like Shirley Jackson did
This is a collection of short stories from authors that are all inspired by Shirley Jackson. And wow! They are all so creepy and eerie! I found some new favorite from reading these. This is probably my favorite anthology now.
If you‘re a fan of Shirley Jackson or creepy short stories, run, don‘t walk to get this collection!!!
My favorite- Tiptoe by Laird Barron and Skinder‘s Veil by Kelly Link.
Yes, I did get a Shirley Jackson vibe from the book. The stories were good but nothing spectacular. I think because the stories have a sense of dread, but never really show you anything.
My fabulous #litsypenpal sent me all these Halloween treats! I don't deserve you @Litlady for your book selections are top notch. Plus that doggie sleeve and vintage bookmarks are super cute. I've been waiting to open the Pez, but the Swedish Fish didn't make it to picture time. Thank you so much!!! I hope you and everyone here had a magical Halloween! 💀🎃👻
I really enjoyed the Bookish First Bingo card, it did a good job of stretching me to find new authors. I'm not done with the tagged book yet, but I've been loving it!!! This is my first time reading Stephen Graham Jones, but I am definitely coming back for more! Can't wait to get to My Heart Is A Chainsaw, especially since it was almost a pick for #fantasticstrangelings and I usually love Jenny's picks. 🕸️👻🎃

Finally, a book from my team's theme! Shirley Jackson is one of my top five favorite authors so of course I would be all over this book. Some stories are stronger than others, but I liked everything.

An afternoon grazing plate that ended up being mostly fruit instead of cheese, like I'd planned. 🤷♀️ #readathon @DeweysReadathon
Finally getting into this beauty! I LOVE Shirley Jackson, so when I heard she inspired this collection, I just had to try it! 🤓

I went in looking for 2 books. This was one of them.
