I actually forgot that I bought this. Proof I should check my bag after I spend too much money in London. Feet up on my week off as I snack like a pig and listen to all the hardcore & black metal.
I loved Pearl. #netgalley gave me an ARC and I devoured it. Pearl is a telepathic, intelligent, and malevolent pig who terrorizes a small farming community. It‘s in your face gruesomeness with zero attempt to explain how this is possible…you just jump on this wild ride and hang on. I thought it was pretty brilliant. Not for those bothered by gore and graphic horror. #firstsnow #alreadymelted
My favorite part of the book was in the opening, when Malerman mentioned the town of Goblin. I love it when author's write different books set in the same universe.
Books about mutant animals or nature gone wrong are my favorite genre. Pearl is a formidable opponent, although I was still rooting for the humans to prevail. I liked the way this was written and how everyone knows there is something wrong with Pearl but tries to ignore it.
Bird Box was truly terrifyingly with its unknown existential threat. In this, Malerman‘s newest novel, the threat is called out from the very beginning — a telepathic pig named Pearl. Pearl can plan, organize and make animals and people do her evil bidding. The end goal is for the pigs to take over the farm exacting revenge to everyone and everything that gets in the way of Pearl‘s plan. More gruesome than Bird Box but equally as disturbing.
Excited to read this one!!! 😃🙌 I‘m a huge fan of Josh Malerman ever since I read Bird Box, even before they turned it into a movie. This one sounds like a twisted story!! 🔥🐷🐽 👍 #ARC #favoriteauthor #netgalley #pearl #joshmalerman #ebook #ereader #currentlyreading
