Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus: Beginnings (the Lily Singer Adventures, Book 1)
Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus: Beginnings (the Lily Singer Adventures, Book 1) | Lydia Sherrer
Saving the world is such a bother when it makes you late for tea. By day, book-loving wizard Lily Singer manages library archives. By night? She sleeps, of course. In between, she studies magic and tries to keep her witch friend Sebastian out of trouble. Much to her displeasure, he finds it anyway and drags her along with him. From unmaking ancient curses to rescuing a town lost in time, Lily and Sebastian fight to avert magical mayhem. Meanwhile, Lily's mysterious past begins to unfold-apast hidden from her by those she trusts most. Will she be able to discover the truth despite them?"

This is a soft pick. Lily and Sebastian are both extremely annoying and entertaining. At 34% into the ebook there was an epilogue. Then a second story arc started. It was odd and took away from the book for me.

Lily Singer wished she could simply say her date was going badly and leave it at that.

Bklover Sounds fun just from the title!! 13mo

After the rather amazing and dark romance I finished I needed something light and fun! This series is off to a great start. And it gave me a lot of giggles. Love Lily and Sébastien!

"Rabble-rousing, huh? So what do you call exploding magic and breaking into people's houses? Tea-time frolics?" ??

All of my book-related mugs are in storage. This is my favorite mug that was in the cabinet of the furnished apartment the Boyfriend and I are renting while we wait to move into the house we're buying. It's currently filled with toasted coconut and almond tea, and I'm about to snack on some biscotti and cherry pastry bites. #readathon

1. Donate, mostly. Our church has a book nook, and I take a lot there.
2. Depends on my mood and how busy I am. Might be a couple days, might be a couple weeks. 🤷‍♀️
3. Tagged. I had to look it up, because it‘s been a while.

Eggs Thanks for joining in 💗🌺💗 5y
Donna310x 1. Donate to my local Tesco. They have a bookcase with used books and you pay a small donation for charity. I use it a lot and put my old ones there. 2. Depends on the book, time, mood...can be a few days or 2 weeks lol. 3. Last year I had my first DNF 5y
Lynnsoprano @Donna310x I love the Tesco bookcase idea. That‘s how our church bookshelf works, but it doesn‘t reach nearly as many people as one in Tesco. 5y
Donna310x @Lynnsoprano it's honestly so good. I've found so many good books in it and it's always full with new ones :) 5y

Maybe I‘ll come back and try this again sometime, but it‘s just not cutting it for me. I‘m fine with witchcraft/wizardry, but this is just striking me as odd. Plus, it‘s arranged as a series of short stories. I finished the first, asked myself if I wanted to keep going, and the answer was a resounding No! Life‘s too short to read things that don‘t spark enthusiasm.

Picked this up on my Kindle via Bookbub recently, and started it last evening. Not my usual sort of read, but entertaining so far.

I accidentally bought this book with one-click on Amazon. I was interested in it though, so I didn‘t return it. Now I‘m having regrets because according to the Kindle App I‘m only 34% of the way through, but I‘ve reached an epilogue?? I hate it when authors do that. What‘s the point?

Revelations is the second book featuring archivist wizard Lily Singer and mercenary witch Sebastian Blackwell. It is a laugh-riot of sarcastic fun cloaking serious questions of power, its proper use, and its abuse. I look forward to future installations in the series!

Beginnings, first in Sherrer's Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus series contains three short stories. Her whip-crack humour and subtle insertions of pop-culture references make a delightful read for a rainy day. My only dislike was that there were jumps in time that happened in the very next paragraph. I would have expected a gap between the ending section and the new section that would give readers a small warning something was about to change

Spent the morning at the Chattanooga Writers and Readers Festival, meeting some local authors and business owners. I sweated my tail off but am proud to support independent writers!!

Enjoying my latest indie read - Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus by Lydia Sherrer. Lily and Sebastian are proving to be a fun duo.
