Glamorous messiah or charlatan? A mask of beauty hides deadly secrets in #1 New York Times and Amazon Charts bestselling author Gregg Olsen's mesmerizing novel of suspense. In the Pacific Northwest, police officer Lindsay Jackman is investigating the murder of a young journalist found at the bottom of a ravine. Lindsay soon learns that the victim was writing an expos. Her subject: a charismatic wellness guru who's pulled millions into her euphoric orbit... To hear Marnie Spellman tell it, when she was a child, a swarm of bees lifted her off the ground and toward the sunlight, illuming her spiritual connection with nature--an uncanny event on which Marnie built a cosmetics empire and became a legend, a healer, and the queen of holistic health and eternal beauty. In her inner circle is an intimate band of devotees called the Hive. They share Marnie's secrets of success--including one cloaked in darkness for twenty years. Determined to uncover the possibly deadly mysteries of the group, Lindsay focuses her investigation on Marnie and the former members of the Hive, who are just as determined to keep Lindsay from their secrets as they are to maintain their status.

#two4tuesday
1. 475 pages (tagged) not long compared to others 🤣
2. Honestly, I probably do. I like to read a book within a couple of days. The only two chunkster books I‘ve read are Harry Potter Deathly Hallows and Twilight Breaking Dawn.

TheSpineView Thanks for playing! Happy Tuesday! 🤩📖📚 3y

I liked this but I did feel that it got a little long before all was said and done. Also, I'd have preferred a couple things to have ended up differently but I suppose the ending was pretty realistic. I'd be happy to read another book by this author so I guess it's a pick.

marleed That cover makes my nose itch! 3y

This was a book club read. Not my usual genre BUT such a great read.
Two separate murders and Detective Lindsay must solve them but are they linked?
Introducing Marnie Spellman- media mogul, beauty queen and healer. Her inner circle of strong devotees will help Marnie with her global success - whatever the cost.
The book is written in a way to keep the reader off balance and guessing after every chapter. Lots of characters/view points to consider

I‘ve joined a local online book club called Page Turners. Our first intro meeting is next week and we‘ve chosen our book already. Not my normal choice but let‘s give it a go. 📚

Cinfhen Sounds like it has potential… and the beginnings of a new bookclub sounds even better!! Enjoy 😊🎉🤞🏽 3y

THE HIVE by Gregg Olsen
I throughly enjoyed this book.

This excerpt is what starts this book out with a bang. In my opinion.

“They walked along the shoreline, miles of stunning emptiness all around them. It was as if they were the last people on the earth, and they felt nothing but the love of each other and the kind of peach that comes when one knows the end of a love story.“
