A Darkling Plain
A Darkling Plain | Philip Reeve
The shattering final instalment of Philip Reeve's Predator Cities quartet flings you back into his blasted world of predator cities, ruinous wars and terrifying Stalkers. Abandoned by Hester, Tom and Wren stumble across the wreckage of a vast traction city: London. As the Green Storm take arms and the truce with the Traction Cities splinters, the world is on a collision course - beginning and ending in London's ruined shell. As everything Tom and Hester know and love hurtles towards apocalypse, who will be left to tell the tale? Winner of the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize 2007, this epic finale is fast-moving, thrilling, heartbreaking - and as exciting as hell!

This actually is a very good finale. Lots of action, character development, questions are answered and everything is concluded. I loved the last few parts of the book - so beautiful and touching! I added the bonus stories to my TBR, because it can't hurt to revisit this world every now and then.

Mortal Engines Series Book 4
I rate this book a 6/10 because it was again slightly unclear what happened towards the end of the story to conclude everything. However, the beginning and climax of the story were very engaging and action-packed.

I have really enjoyed this series, and i feel this book concluded the series really well. It brought all the books together, particularly the last paragraph of the book linking to the opening lines of the first book. I will admit i got a little bit emotional when Shrike sat for years watching over the bodies of Tom and Hester. It reminded me of a loyal dog lying on its owners grave. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Really enjoyed the conclusion of this series! Still had a lot of good action and adventure that I‘ve come to expect from this series. Also it was wonderful ending to all the characters stories that you‘ve grown to know and love. So I was very satisfied with the ending and it just felt complete. Great series!

I spent a chunk of my winter reading the Mortal Engines Quartet, and it was worth the time. The post-apocalyptic world of Traction Cities (cities on wheels) is a fascinating place to explore. The characters are sometimes likeable, sometimes despicable, but always relatable. And the vivid descriptions are cinematic—I felt like I was experiencing it all. Plus, airships! I highly recommend this series for your next armchair adventure. 🛋📚👍

I adore this series but I‘m only just getting around to the final book. I don‘t see this series mentioned a lot on litsy but hopefully that‘ll change with the upcoming film.

I do not think I could possibly be more pleased with the way this series ended. The final book was full of fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action, and yet closed so beautifully with the most poignant scene. The series is an absolute keeper. I know will I want to reread it someday and would strongly recommend it.

Lchnessmnstr I‘m only half way through this book but I‘m excited to see that it ends well. I‘ve loved this series! 6y

Grabbing a quick #breakfastwithabook before work this morning. No weekends off for caterers! At least I sometimes get time to read once everything hits the ovens.

It took me a while to get into this book, especially for it being the last of a series, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. So happy to be finished with The Hungry City Chronicles.
