This was my first Jill Shalvis book and it was the 5.5 book in the series. I was able to read without being lost. It was short and sweet. Things were mentioned that I suspect were in the previous books, but I was not lost. In fact, it only peaked my interest to try read this series.

Finished a holiday read during a midday walk btw meetings. Weather continues to be amazing which is helping me get some much needed exercise & fresh air. Unfortunately, I didn't love this read. I think I can't do novellas. They are too short - not enough character development for me to care.

I always love a Jill Shalvis romance and this one brings the holiday feels! Stuck together on a boat heading to an island makes for a tense Christmas for the former lovers that this book reunites. I was up early to read, and was too tired to do anything else but read when I got off work, so I finished a lot of short reads. All aboard the Christmas Reading Train!

As much as I enjoy novellas I'm often sad that they aren't full length novels, and Mistletoe in Paradise is no exception! James and Hannah are childhood sweethearts reunited for the first time since a tragedy. This was a well done element that brought out a lot of emotions. There is also a meddling step father - whom I loved for all his meddling. Hannah also has a secret that will ruin the trip and enough work that she can't seem to take a break.
