The 9th book in the series with Patrick and Erica set I'm Sweden. This is quite disturbing to be honest, quite a few TW. I deals with two cases one present day and the other from a few decades ago. Both are death of a young child. It was certainly gripping and tense and some of the endings I did guess.

Pickpick

Honestly this is a weak pick, a very weak one. I think this is her longest book in this series and I don‘t think I needed all of those pages.

We follow a timeline in 1671/2 during the witch prosecutions. And 30 yr old case and the present day where Tanumshede police gets a case with a dead child found in the same place as the older case.

The book looks into Sweden‘s immigration policy and racism.

#BookReport

This week has been a great reading week. I finished The Ice Child, read The Garbage King and the tagged book

The chapter a day read of Mansfield Park also ended this week.

I continued my chapter a day read of Anne‘s House of Dreams and the buddy read of Backlash.

Jerdencon I really liked Ice Child. 4y
Cinfhen Are you loving the Lackberg‘s ? They‘re so violent but good!!!! (edited) 4y
AnneCecilie @Jerdencon Me too. It felt more focused and less rambling. 4y
AnneCecilie @Cinfhen I enjoy them. They‘re not worse than other Nordic Noirs, and I‘ve read that genre long before they were exported to the world 😉 4y
Cinfhen I bet you have 😘 4y

I‘m actually ahead of schedule in this series 🤩🤯🥳 and have now finished all books in the series. This was a very long book (784 pages) but I really enjoyed this one with three stories running within it. Although at times I found the story from 1671 - 1672 difficult to listen to, we really were barbaric in the past! A lot happens for the characters in his one and some good scenes with Bertil Mellberg in this one. He really is a great character

Andrew65 â˜ï¸even if he is often totally incompetent. Recommend this one and have really enjoyed this series even if often longer than they need to be. #NordicNoir (edited) 4y
TrishB And your reward is to start a new series 😠4y

EadieB @Andrew65 Nice review! Good for you to be up-to-date. Looks like I have 3 more books in this series to read. 4y
Andrew65 @MicheleinPhilly I‘ll most probably fail on this. 🤣 @TrishB 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks. I‘ve only read two of the Jussi Adler-Olsen books. 😳 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 You do have some catching up in that series. 4y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly I‘m good at the talk 😠4y
Crazeedi Maybe by end of year I will have caught up with everything!🤪 4y
gradcat Great review! I guess I should have stuck with this series. I got tired of them around book 7, and just quit. It sounds like this one is good, but 700+ pages? I consider that overly long for this genre. Whew! 😅 â™¥ï¸ 4y

Back to Scandinavia-noir! This is quite good; a missing 4 year old forcefully brings back what happened in a small resort town 30 years ago. The perpetrators were two teenage girls, one who remained in town, the other becomes a famous actress. She comes to town for a movie shoot, and a toddler disappears. Great psychological suspense with patient police work, and does not disappoint!

Fjäbllaca. The city in Sweden with the most dead/murdered people pro square meter.
I visited Sweden 1,5 year ago and it was an obligatory point in my trip.
And now Camilla Läckberg takes me again to the journey through crime and mistery. We meet an old friends and she introduces us the new One.
And mabye she uses the old tricks in her newest book but I loved them few years ago and I'm still a big Fan.

Lyssnade på denna som ljudbok. Vet inte hur det påverkar "läsupplevelsen". Tror jag blir mindre kräsen. Och som ljudbok var den helt ok. Men inget som dröjer sig kvar.

I got a surprise in the mail from my family in Sweden today. Started crying when I saw what they had written in it. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and I miss my family so much. They sure know how to put a smile on my face though. Can't wait to read Camilla Läckberg's newest.

Gezemice So sorry to hear that! Wish you a speedy recovery! ðŸ’🤗 8y
