17 posts | 19 read | 20 to read
What if you made yourself your number one priority? Of all the women and men Noni Blake has pleased in her life, theres one shes often overlookedherself. After the end of a decade-long relationship, Noni decides its time for that to change. Shes finally going to prioritize her wants and desires and only do things (and people) that feel good in the moment. As she embarks on a pleasure-seeking quest that takes her halfway around the world, she discovers that maybe she can have everything, and everyone, shes ever wanted. Effortlessly hilarious and relatable, Claire Christian spins a fresh, feel-good tale about starting over as a thirtysomething woman whos been living life for everyone else. A story of self-discovery for the ages, Nonis journey serves as a sparkling reminder that life is what we make of itso why not enjoy it?

It was a fun book to listen to while walking. Noni Blake writes up list of past missed hook ups. There‘s several awkward sex scenes but some funny moments. I do like Noni‘s idea of a pleasure list. Finding joy in things that bring you joy. Joy for yourself & no one else. #bookspin book

Noni Blake doesn‘t have a bucket list, she has a fuck-it list and now at age 36 she‘s going on a pleasure quest. After her 9 year relationship ends in heartbreak, Noni attempts to reconnect with all the guys & girls she never slept with but wish she had. I loved Noni‘s humor and non apologetic attitude as she searches for second chances. Audio narration was DELIGHTFUL. The book dragged in the middle & there is an ABUNDANCE of sex but hey…

Cinfhen I enjoyed this one @CarolynM that Aussie accent really charmed me🤣 1y
Read4life A fuck-it list!?! 🤣🤣 1y
Cinfhen Yup! You gotta love it @Read4life 😂😂😂 1y

I‘m actually really enjoying this one so far @CarolynM @TheAromaofBooks although there is a lot of ( awkward) sex 🤪 but it‘s funny and Noni is likeable. And after some heavy reads, I‘m enjoying the light banter.

TheAromaofBooks I appreciate your commitment towards catching that daisy! 😂 1y
Read4life Ok. Looks like I found my daisy book. Thanks @Cinfhen 🤓 1y
Cinfhen Be forewarned @Read4life there‘s LOTS of sex …but other stuff too! I‘m surprised how much I‘m invested in Noni‘s quest to rediscover her path to happiness! 1y
Read4life Thanks! I‘ll be sure to only listen with my headphones on. 😳 1y
Cinfhen @Read4life 👍🏻😅 1y

I wanted to like this, because the premise is good. Australian bi teacher goes on a 6 month leave to seek pleasure. Except this seems to be getting drunk and having sex with people she‘d missed out on having sex with in the past. And her friends act like this is the most amazing life journey. After losing track of how many one night stands she has, I no longer cared about her “growth” or even the character herself.

This was a very fun light and inspirational read. I loved the main character and how she evolved during her pleasure quest vacation.

I love how the self search allows for the character Noni to define what pleasure looks like, what it means, and where she stands on taking her life to new heights after a failed marriage, a miscarriage, and failed hookups. Noni embarks on a journey where "I feel more myself when I was led by pleasure". ?‍♀️??

My most recent read was a blast! I absolutely adore this novel from Claire Christian. Noni Blake is tired of her stagnant life, and two years after her long-term relationship ends she decides to spice up her life. Drawing inspiration from a pleasure list leads Noni on a quest to find herself and what makes her happy. Going on this journey with her had me relating in all too real ways.

I made it 30% into this #bisexual chick lit romp, but I got tired of Noni just sleeping around and nothing else happening. I think some other kind of story and/or character development probably comes later but too little too late for me!

Prairiegirl_reading 30% is way too long to wait for something to get good IMO. 3y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @Prairiegirl_reading Yeah I think I more than gave it a shot! 3y

Kept cool w/ Frosty Pepper this afternoon.

Sex. Lots & lots of sex in this story, if that's not your thing, you may want to skip this one. About the only thing Noni isn't insecure about is her Bisexuality. She's a mess about everything else in her life. Once the story switches from her trying to fix her problems by shagging everyone she meets, gets much better. "Pleasure isn't a person. It's personal. And I need to work out what it looks to me.'

JamieArc I listened to this a few months ago, and one of the lines has stayed with me and has been really helpful for me: You are endless potential, always. 3y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @JamieArc great line. Moments like that were the best part. 3y

A novel about a queer curvy woman named Noni who travels abroad to seek pleasure? Did someone write my biography?!

I was expecting an Eat, Pray, Love vibe but got mostly the Love portion. Which I wasn‘t mad about. There‘s sex. Lots of it. It‘s a smutty beach read for fat bisexual women and honestly, the world needs more of that! Sometimes a book just exists about, and for, pleasure.

Reggie This sounds great. 4y

It was an easy read with a fairly well-written and relatable MC. I would have liked more of a sense of place and less sex. Onwards!

jesseastin I‘m reading this now and completely agree with your post. 2y

A pleasure read! Noni leaves a bad breakup and a job behind in Australia in pursuit of whatever she can say yes to in Europe, including maybe checking off some people from her list of missed hookups. This would be a great gift for a friend (or yourself) who has put herself last for too long. #romantsy

ily leaves her old life behind. Noni focuses on finding herself and discovering what will make her happy. Noni starts this journey still not over a long term relationship that ended eighteen months ago. Noni is a complex character that is relatable at least to some extent. Her trip does not go as planned. Noni ends up in hilarious awkward situations.

Thank you MIRA, HARLEQUIN Trade Publishing, and NetGalley for It‘s Been a Pleasure, Noni Blake.

I loved Claire Christian's YA novel Beautiful Mess so I was looking forward to this, her 1st adult title. Unfortunately it has a lot less depth - it's a romance novel dressed up as a story of a woman finding her true self through pleasure seeking. There is a lot of sex, mostly good for the protagonist, so that makes a change, but it left me cold. I have all sorts of problems with the story. Almost a pan, but my expectations were probably too high.

Ruthiella At least the sex was good! 😀 4y
