pickCute & queer, this horror graphic novel is set in Maine, where two high school boys are crushing on each other. Eli is trans, Jewish, has a chronic immune disorder… and he sees ghosts. Tony is a popular athlete who keeps his asthma a secret… not to mention his werewolf side. Originally a web comic, the grey tones are a bit too dark in print, but that didn‘t stop me from enjoying this. Chapter art alternates between the two queer creators.
I like the way the creators illustrated this “Were you drinking?” scene.
pickA sweet budding romance set against a backdrop of fairly typical werewolves and not-so-typical ghost-seeing abilities. A story of parents and friends, bullies and personal growth, with scary wolves and creepy ghosts. 👻 🐺
I did read a content note for 'bullying' for this book, but just to be more specific, it's a physical assault and a life -threatening hate crime.
Comped as Riverdale meets Stranger Things, so I yoinked it when it hit the library. #graphicnovel
