Are We There Yet?
Are We There Yet? | Dan Santat
7 posts | 10 read | 4 to read
Caldecott Medalist Dan Santat takes readers on the road trip of a lifetime! "Are we there yet?" Every parent has heard this classic kid question on a long car ride--and after reading this astonishingly inventive new book (that even turns upside down for several pages!), you'll never look at being bored the same way again. Let's face it: everyone knows that car rides can be boring. And when things get boring, time slows down. In this book, a boy feels time slowing down so much that it starts going backward--into the time of pirates! Of princesses! Of dinosaurs! The boy was just trying to get to his grandmother's birthday party, but instead he's traveling through Ancient Egypt and rubbing shoulders with Ben Franklin. When time flies, who knows where--or when--he'll end up.

#BoundTogetherJune Day 19: “Are We There Yet” is the most dreaded question on a #RoadTrip. The title alone says everything, as most parents, uncles, or anyone who has taken care of a child in a long #RoadTrip can attest: hearing these words repeated ad infinitum can drive even the most patient adult up a wall. My review of this humorous story here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-eGW

I'm so stressed out with work that I've hardly read anything for 2 weeks. Working in retail at Christmas time is not great for ones reading or stress levels. Can't wait for it to all be over.

Cathythoughts Almost there 😉✨✨ 7y
DGRachel Back in my 20s I loved working retail at this time of year. Twenty years later, I don‘t even like being a customer right now! As @Cathythoughts said, you‘re almost there. You can do it! 7y
tif @Cathythoughts @DGRachel there's parts of it I love. What I don't love is when head office sends me four times as many boxes as normal on the week before Christmas (250 cartons in total!) while I'm trying to help customers and make lots of money!!! But yes, almost there! 7y

This would be a great read for summer around road trip season though the toddler doesn't yet vocalize boredom like this 🙌 the format involves flipping the book a couple of times, and the illustrations are great! There are some time travel daydreams with fun details for readers a bit older. #babyreads #roadtrip #travel #picturebooks

This book is awesome. It's an innovative look at a road trip. It's not just a trip to grandmas house but through time as well. I even love the QR code in the middle of the story. The layout, design, and illustrations are spot and and refreshing.
