pickIn 1956, Brit William Travers went to the #Seychelles to hunt green snail and here details his quest. He has little regard for sustainability (plus casual racism), but overall this is an interesting story told in a compelling way. I certainly learned a lot about the islands and their waters. A second book, Shark for Sale, about his shark fishing endeavors, is also included.

Hooked_on_books @Librarybelle He has very much of a 1950s attitude, though his racism isn‘t as bad as I was expecting. He certainly respects the men he works with and mentions that one of them is the finest human being he has ever met. And the racism isn‘t pervasive, it just crops up here and there. 3y
Hooked_on_books @Librarybelle Actually, I should rephrase. The typical 1950s attitude is way worse. His is more like casual racism you might see today. Not ok, but not as horrifying as it was then. 3y
