This cry fest, poignant love story with a watery tragedy, lingers still. The tears stung when I read the last line. Hussey's prose is a balm to my soul. Please read the trigger warnings before reading, though, as the subject matter can be heavy 💔. I can't resist a re-read shortly X
You know the worth of a truly good book when the story follows you even though weeks have passed since you held it in your hands 💞.
pickCaught between 13 Reasons Why & History Is All You Left Me, Hussey's prose is mournful & poignant. I'm in awe of his ability to break your heart & warm it in equal measure. The ugliness of the world is captured heavily on the page, but hope shines through. Everyone in El's short life tried to stifle his freedom of expression & confidence. Acceptance is beautiful & has no conditions. I shall never forget you, El & Frecks. How I cried for you both.
pickDylan and Ellis‘s relationship is exposed on social media. Their relationship is short lived as one of them dies shorty after. Grief stricken, Dylan leaves no stone unturned as he pieces together what happened on that fateful night and he comes to realise how little he knew about Ellis.
Harrowing, beautiful, sad and romantic and so much detail is shared by the writer about the relationships portrayed throughout. Contains trigger warnings.
