This book - wow. It is beautifully and exquisitely written.
The story of an opera singer who loses the use of her instrument and is forced to lead a class of whistlers.
Growth takes place, lessons are learned, friendships are formed, priorities are re-arranged.
I am not doing this little book justice with this review.
Just read it. Trust me.
pickThis was such a surprising, tender and heartwarming read. Berkhout skillfully delivers a story about friendship, love, family, the ups and downs of life and why we should all carry music within us. I loved how realistic and relatable the main character was. We see her struggling with so many things. I enjoyed the other characters too. They were all very likable. I marveled at how Berkhout weaved the pet Parrot into the storyline so meaningfully.
pickThe novel is one of pain and loss, struggle and redemption, and finding that new path in life, as the one we thought we were on doesn‘t always lead us where we thought.
