#manicmonday #letterQ @CBee @The_Penniless_Author

Most difficult letter so far!

📖 Quite ugly one morning (average book, great author)
✒ .......................
📺 Jon Snow's very hard QUESTIONS
🎞 Galaxy QUEST
🎤 Queen
🎶 A Question of Time / A Question of Lust (both by Depeche Mode)

Just need an author 🤔

The_Penniless_Author You do realize your TV show and movie don't start with 'Q', right? 🤨 2y
RaeLovesToRead @The_Penniless_Author Yeah, but I like Jon Snow's Very Hard QUESTIONS more than, say, QI and Galaxy QUEST is a classic 😁 2y
The_Penniless_Author Yeah, it's just too bad neither one starts with 'q'. Otherwise you could have used them this week. 😉 2y
CBee @RaeLovesToRead hubby loves Galaxy Quest 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 2y

#20series20days @Andrew65 day17
Ive only recently discovered the jack parlabane books but i am thoroughly enjoying the dark humour and political comments as the investigative journalist usually takes on the great, good, and corrupt of Scottish society.

Andrew65 I like the sound of these. 4y
MsMelissa I think these sound very interesting. 4y
andrew61 @Lucy_Anywhere i looked on the summary and remembered i have read that one, difficult to forget the title and a plot set on an oil rig ☺ 4y

Pickpick

Despite taking me a couple weeks to get through this, I really enjoyed this crime novel. The writing is rather crude at times, and Brookmyre seems to have an obsession with bodily fluids; so stay away if those things bother you. The book kicks off a series following investigative journalist Jack Parlabane, who I found to be quite humorous. #Booked2020 #TartanNoir @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage

Cinfhen Such a cheerful cover...wasn‘t expecting it to be your #TartanNoir 😂 5y
cherinium @Cinfhen Certainly not a cheerful book! 😄 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Yeah, why do authors do that with covers? It‘s weird when they don‘t match the book‘s theme or style. @Cinfhen 5y

#LitsyAtoZ Letter B was 1st in the jack parlabane series. Definitely a dark first chapter but once you overcome the grossness the black humour makes the book worthwhile - i can't remember when i last laughed out loud at a crime novel - and of course anyone who stayed up and enjoyed certain results in the 1997 election will laugh at the password reference - definitely a series i will carry on with.

My latest read is a darkly funny crime novel and the first of Christopher brookmyre's parlabane books- i haven't taken anything from the grisly first chapter but this paragraph made me wonder as this book was written 20 yrs ago and references the gradual creeping profitisation of the NHS!

#Recommendsday : Christopher Brookmyre is one of my absolute favourite authors and deserves to be far better known outside of the U.K. This is the first of his books I ever read and I LOVE it so much. Hilarious, quirky, dark, suspenseful - what more could you want?
