kspenmoll Love love 2y
writerlibrarian @kspenmoll we had a Mapplethorpe retrospective a few years ago and there was a whole room dedicated to his relationship with Patti Smith photographs, music and his art work. It was amazing. I had read the book a few months before. (edited) 2y

Pickpick

Soft writing. Beautifully bitter and sweet, but mostly the harshness of chosen realities through the announced embellishments of the resigned (IMO) author. Certainly an overwhelming novel.

50 pages, worth a second read, for a deeper immersion in the four subject covered: life styles, town, wild territory and a mother‘s love for her young son.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Beautiful!!! Is that French?! 4y
Josee.lit.a.lu.et.lira @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Kuessipan is available in English also, but I will read it in French. The author is a Native Innu artist. I was strongly recommended to watch the movie also, which I will do after. https://www.cbc.ca/films/more/kuessipan 4y
MsMelissa Thanks for the tag. I don‘t generally take part in these daily questionnaires but will always make an exception when I‘m tagged 😊 4y

Poetic prose built as a long, melancholic song. You need to read this little piece by little piece. The precise word, the imagery of the northern land, the life, near the shore, inside the reserve is breathtaking by its bleakness and yet, also its beauty. You won't leave this book unscathed. #booked2019 #indigenousauthor

This my book for today. Not an easy one. It's slim but so powerful, poetic and harsh. I've been reading it in small pieces.
Saturday is hockey night in Canada. 🍁 are in Ottawa and it's do or die for the Habs in Winnipeg.
#readingandwatchinghockey

writerlibrarian Here we go. Still no score after one period and a PP for Ottawa in the beginning of the 2nd. But.... Senators 🚨 after the 🍁 killed the penalty. I'm starting for my next #booked2019. With a little than 5m into the 3rd, 🍁 tie the game 2-2. Leafs lose 4-2 (edited) 6y

Vignettes. Stark beauty coexists with substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and men who die far too young. Traditional culture offers solid ground for lost souls. Quietly triumphant. #nativebooks #IndigenousVoices

Lindy @prowlix This one is slim, poetic and powerful. 8y

The Innu language is like music that you sing, with slow intonations that you stretch out further with your breath. There are no vowels, and that makes the language impenetrable, like a return to nature: harsh, all bark and antlers.
