Book 2 did not disappoint. At all. But it leaves on a cliffhanger that I can't do anything about until book 3 is out ...fall of 2023. I'm gently shaking my fist with impatience, but I know the finale will be worth it due to the amount of research that Pike puts into each book. I'm waiting for this series to hit it's popularity stride, it's really quite good.

Happy New Year! I'm trying to pace myself with this book, but I don't have to tell any of you how that's going...

Wishing all the care and kindness to everyone in 2022. 🤗💛

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A beautiful second novel in The Lost Queen trilogy. I loved reading about Langoreth‘s daughter and Lailoken‘s revenge. The story moved quickly but still packed a lot of events in smoothly. I cannot believe I have to wait another 2 years for the last book. This was my #bookspin No 14 pick for March. I highly recommend books 1 and 2!

I had won The Lost Queen and loved it, so I got this second one in the series. Loved It 😊 If you like Historical Fiction, you need to read this book. It's considered Historical Fantasy but to me it was more like Historical Fiction. Now my only problem is, I have to wait until September 2023 for the last and final book in the Trilogy. Ugh!🤦

I am blown away by the author's weaving of Scottish history within a fictional story. The author's note is such a gem. I appreciate the ability to get a glimpse at the characters who are believed to have initiated the legend of Merlin.

A fantastic sequel that I liked better than the 1st book in the trilogy. Pike's writing is wonderful. The pace is really fast & there is a lot of action. The multiple POV approach worked wonderfully. The characters grew quite a bit of depth, becoming even more rounded & complicated. Their actions & interactions natural & the overall feel of the book was one of greater writing maturity. I am itching to read the final book in the trilogy.

9 books this month, tagged book was my favorite. I‘ve been doing more crafting (lots more audiobooks), so it‘s no surprise that the books I have finished were short. I‘ve gotten myself into a library spiral and have been slacking on my goal of making my way through books on my own shelf.

Sequel to the Lost Queen, a fictional retelling of the historical legend of Merlin, I absolutely loved this book! It completely took me out of 2020 USA, and oh man did I desperately need that. Magic, battles, 6th century Scotland, YES PLEASE!

Follow.my.read I just ordered book one! Sounded like a fun trilogy! 4y
shaynarae @Follow.my.read You are in for such a treat!! I don‘t typically re-read books, but these are definitely ones I‘d pick up again 4y

A very enthusiastic pick for this second book in the Lost Queen trilogy. 6th century Scotland, Druids and Picts and Anglo-Saxons and Britons and magic and wars and the freaking Arthurian legend. 😍

My full review is on my blog, which I somehow hadn‘t updated since 9/1. Whoops. Again.

“The Battle of Ardedydd
Between the sons of Eliffer
And Gwenddolau, son of Ceidio
In which battle Gwenddolau fell:
Myrddin went mad.
— The Annales Cambriae, entry for the year
AD 573”

2nd book in The Lost Queen Trilogy. A modern tale of Languoreth, sister of Lailoken, inspiration of Merlin.
Such a riveting HF.
Thank you, Atria Books, NetGalley & Signe Pike for the opportunity to read & review this book.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Pike's books. She writes incredible characters and her books are terribly immersive. I am excited to continue reading whatever books she publishes in the future.

AllisonM89 @Book_Fiend_Melissa oh no! as much as I'd rather order from an independent bookstore, it's amazing that Amazon gets the book to you on release day 4y
MsMelissa I think there is an issue with supply. Amazon doesn‘t even have it available here. I ordered from Canada‘s biggest (non-Amazon) bookstore and I don‘t usually have issues. The website says it won‘t ship for 1-3 weeks. 4y

Starting where book 1 ends, the reader is immediately on the edge of their seat as there is a war about to occur. Alternating viewpoints between Lailoken, Languoreth, & her youngest daughter Angharad. I couldn't help rooting and crying for this family from Cadzow and Strathclyde.

LinesUponAPage Two readers?! Smart idea. I‘m reading the second book, now. So i didn‘t read your post in case there were spoilers. 😆😉 4y

1. If I love it or it is a signed copy, I keep the book. But I mostly donate boxes and boxes of books to the Lupus Foundation.

2. I really want the tagged book because I loved The Lost Queen and have been waiting for the sequel for about 2 years now lol

@ElizaMarie @AkashaVampie Sorry if you ladies already posted!

Thank you @AllisonM89 for the tag!

I had an unpopular opinion and didn‘t love The Lost Queen, the first book in this trilogy. I had this ARC so I thought I‘d give it a try anyway. I‘m really glad I did. The story found it‘s groove in the second installment and the character development and pacing were a lot more satisfying. I‘m definitely interested in seeing how everything is wrapped up in the third book.

An excellent continuation of the story after The Lost Queen!! It picks up immediately after the events of the last book: following Langoureth, her brother Lailoken, and her daughter Angharad over the next few years. There are many battles between kingdoms with some devastating losses. The struggle to maintain the Old Ways vs. the infiltration of Christianity was super interesting. Love love loved it!! #NetGalley

Love this trilogy. I‘m not a fan of huge or many battle scenes but the historical story telling and characters really are intriguing. Loved the Picts in this story.
