Have you ever been bullied for things out of your control? Lila and the Crow is a RF book about how one young girl learns to embrace her uniqueness despite what her bully thinks, and I believe it would be an amazing book to use in the classroom for a RT. This can be used in the classroom to benefit students by showing them different type of texts they can relate to which should encourage them to read and connect to text more.

Absolutely stunning art in this one. And I kind of liked the idea of this girl, who is being bullied, claiming the name the bullies call her as her own and making it something positive. Screw ‘em, Lila. They‘re jerks. You take whatever they call you and make it amazing.

Gabrielle Grimard is an amazing illustrator. This is the 4th book I have read that she illustrated, and I have yet to be let down. This is the first book I have read where she did the writing. It is a decent little tale of absolutely owning who you are, even when bullies try to tear you down. I had some issues with it but it was mostly a nice read, although a bit sad at times. I read it to my baby niece and she seemed to like it.

This book is beautiful, both in pictures and words. Lila wants a friend. She expects to have a grand time her first day of work. Things do not turn out that way and Lila doubts herself. It will take time but Lila will come to love herself.
