I‘m almost caught up on Toews‘ backlist now that I‘ve read her 2nd novel. This short #audiobook (6 h) is funny, which is what I expect from Toews, but without her usual tragic elements. It reminded me of Dianne Warren‘s Cool Water, in its depiction of a variety of Prairies small town personalities, but it could have used more poignancy & a less indecisive mayor. The only Toews I‘ve yet to read is about her father‘s suicide… speaking of poignant.
