The Secrets of Love Story Bridge
The Secrets of Love Story Bridge: A Novel | Phaedra Patrick
17 posts | 10 read | 10 to read
A single fathers act of bravery leads him to a surprise second chance at love in the heartwarming new novel from the author of The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. Its summer in the city and passions are soaring along with the temperaturefor everyone but Mitchell Fisher, who hates all things romance. He relishes his job cutting off the padlocks that couples fasten to the famous love story bridge. Only his young daughter, Poppy, knows that behind his prickly veneer, Mitchell still grieves the loss of her mother. Then one hot day, everything changes when Mitchell courageously rescues a woman who falls from the bridge into the river. Hes surprised to feel an unexpected connection to her, but she disappears before he can ask her name. Desperate to find out her identity, Mitchell is shocked to learn shes been missing for almost a year. He teams up with her spirited sister, Liza, on a quest to find her again. However, shes left only one clue behinda message on the padlock she hung on the bridge. Brimming with Phaedra Patricks signature charm and a sparkling cast of characters, The Secrets of Love Story Bridge follows one mans journey to unlock his heart and discover new beginnings in the unlikeliest places.

Finished listening to this one while doing some baking. It was a cute story. Enjoyed the how the bridges and locks were integrated into the story. Liked how Mitchell grew throughout the story and opened himself back up again. Good supporting characters and a sweet tale overall.

Believeable narrative, and a letter writing man ♡! Mitchell is still grieving and feeling guilt over losing Anita, but is forced to cope for the sake of their daughter, never seeking out new love. The monotony of his job is drastically shifted after saving a woman who falls into the water under the bridge where he removes love locks. And so starts a mirage of complex mini storylines and relationships that weave into a complete story of healing.

Mitchell went from his job as an engineer to the job of removing padlocks placed by lovers on bridge railings and padlocks that were starting to weigh down the bridges.

One day while removing the padlocks, he rescued a woman who fell off the bridge.

Ms. Patrick has written another heartwarming book with characters you will fall in love with and a story line that will keep you turning the pages.

I have always loved the idea of attaching a ‘love lock‘ to a bridge, never giving a thought to the consequences of all that weight of thousands of pieces of metal added to the bridge supports. Such a dilemma is at the heart of this book. The mystery surrounding the woman who fell, the agony of bereavement of her rescuer and the love story which ultimately finds the main character are skillfully woven to create a charming novel of hope.

It‘s tropey but kind of adorable. I‘m not sure I liked the main character all that much but I did his love interest 🤷🏾‍♀️
