Her journey leads her to meet many new companions with whom to spend a starry night upon the river, where they sleep with no inkling of who will be looking down on them in the morning light . . . These much celebrated festive poems by Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy are simply lovely. Themes include recapturing the magic of Christmas, celebrating what‘s truly important during the festive season, a retelling with environmental message, the amazing truce between the trenches, a London‘s winter tale, and a delightful Christmas birthday. The artworks by various artists are absolutely gorgeous! Love reading them all.

Another gorgeous tiny Christmas book from Carol Ann Duffy, about the frost fairs when the Thames used to freeze over. The illustrations in this one were some of my favourite in the whole series and she describes the cold and stillness SO evocatively. Can I be drinking spiced rum at a frost fair please?

1. I think I have 25 books lined up for my #WinterGames tbr -Most of those are short poetry books or anthologies, and probably most excited for the carol and Duffy Christmas books because I love them so much - see tagged!

2. I‘m watching the West Wing over zoom with one of my best friends who lives in California at the moment, it‘s bringing me so much happiness during lockdown.
